A week of inspirational riding and photo/film shoots, brought freeskiing into the spotlight once again at the Suzuki Nine Knights presented by GoPro. The Mottolino Fun Mountain in Livigno featured unforgettable action throughout the event, including Jesper Tjäder’s double backie over the halfpipe. At the gala night riders got to vote for their favourite “trick”, “style”, “GoPro shot” and “overall rider” of the week.
A fundamental part of the Nine Knights concept is to showcase the talent of photographers who are an integral part of the sport. This year our extraordinary visionaries contending in the “Photo Contest” included Pally Learmond (GBR), Tero Repo (FIN), Alessandro Belluscio (ITA), Nate Abbott (USA) and Louis Garnier (FRA). The invited photographers followed the riders throughout the week, working together with them to finally reveal their 8 best photos at the gala night. This years categories were “Best Action”, “Best Diptick”, “Best Lifestyle” and “Best Illumination”.
Here are the WINNERS OF THE WEEK!!!
Alessandro Belluscio, took home the best action shot award. The always smiling Italian is a true creative genius and he nailed that perfect moment of action. He will be heading to Fuerteventura for a surf trip with Blue Tomato. Surfs up Alo!!
Louis Gagnier impressed the judges with his well conceived diptic shot. The frenshman was awarded with a Surfboard from Suzuki.
Pally Learmond took home the “best lifestyle” category, with an interesting military style take on the riders planning their attack on the castle. The Brit won himself an O’Neill wetsuit. Above giving some love to Lolo Favre.
Finland’s Tero Repo, earned himself a trip to the Red Bull X Fighters in Madrid, with his perfectly exposed shot creatively using the architectural facets of the castle.
The photos will be published very soon on www.nineknights.com, so stay tuned.
AND THE RIDERS POLL WINNERS…
Winner of two categories is a man of determination, skill and style. Best Overall and best GoPro Shot, two well earned accolades went to Sweden’s dare devil Jesper Tjäder, who’s stuntman jump was merely one part of a consistent week of riding. He wins a trip to the Red Bull X-Fighters in Madrid and 2000$ from GoPro.Did you see Jesper’s head spinning GoPro shot over the halfpipe?..if not check it out here… while Jesper takes a drink out of the pan, a Legs of Steel development from the traditional “Shoe”.
Bottoms up Jesper, you deserve it!!
Nicky Keefer (USA) was stomping all week, always holding his grabs deep into the landing, tweaking it out. So it was no wonder he was voted Best Style. An avid surfer he was stoked on a new O’Neill wetsuit.
Also heading to Fuerteventura for a surf holiday with Blue Tomato is the super stoked Big Air contest winner Oscar Wester (SWE), who also received his pimp custom made Nine Knights ring and of course a cigar!!
Best trick went to Norwegian Øystein Bråten with his flip on to the kink rail 270 out, which impressed his fellow riders. We celebrated on his behalf at the gala night, as he had to shoot off early. He will be receiving a Suzuki Nine Knights special edition Surfboard!
Congrats to all the winners of the week!!!
A big thanks to all the riders and photographers. You made this event epic!
